Jospong Group acts as surety for Paul Adom-Otchere – OSP

NewsJospong Group acts as surety for Paul Adom-Otchere – OSP

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced that they have accepted the revised bail conditions proposed by Paul Adom Otchere’s legal team.

According to the OSP statement on X, the revised bail conditions meet the objectives of the original bail conditions.

The OSP added that Jospong Group of Companies is acting as surety for Paul Adom-Otchere.

In a post on X, the OSP wrote, “The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has accepted revised bail conditions proposed by legal counsel for Mr. Paul Adom-Otchere, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).

The revised terms, which meet the objectives of the original bail conditions, have been secured by the Jospong Group of Companies, acting as surety.

The matter remains under active investigation by the OSP”.

Nicholas Lenin Anane Agyei, the legal counsel for Paul Adom-Otchere, slammed the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) over their bail conditions for their client.

According to Nicholas Lenin Anane Agyei, the OSP bail condition is very unreasonable.

Adom-Otchere’s legal counsel revealed his client had already informed the OSP that he does not own any landed property, but went on to set two landed properties in his name as bail conditions.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One Newsroom on Thursday, July 31, Nicholas Lenin Anane Agyei detailed, “It is unreasonable in the context of bail to require an accused person to produce properties in his own name. What the OSP is essentially saying is that persons who lack property or are poor people in this country cannot make bail in this country.”

“The shocking fact is that while taking the profile of the suspect, the suspect indicated that he does not own any landed property, and so for the OSP to set two landed properties in his name, precedent for his bail condition, it is essentially concluding to hang him and detain him. We find the bail condition very unreasonable,” he stated.

He added, “We will explore all legal avenues to ensure that Mr. Adom-Otchere is freed”.

Adom Otchere lawyer, further revealed that they do not know the whereabouts of their client.

Nicholas Lenin Anane Agyei added, “As I speak, I’m unable to say for a fact where our client is, except to mention that he’s been moved from the Office of the Special Prosecutor. We are getting conflicting reports as to his location.

“We’ve been to the National Security Head Office, and we’ve been informed he’s not there. And so we are still making frantic efforts to locate specifically where he’s been taken to,” he said.

However, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, had earlier justified the bail conditions set for former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere.

According to Kissi Agyebeng, the landed bail condition was set to encourage the suspect to show up and not run.

Kissi Agyebeng revealed that if the suspect claims he does not have any landed property, any property found in his name can be confiscated by the State.

Speaking during a meeting,  Kissi Agyebeng stated, “The OSP has a suspect, and you say you do not have any landed property, which means you can bail yourself out if you do not have any landed property.

We will fix a value on it, and bring what you have, and it is also to encourage you not to run because if you run away, that property will be confiscated. So, it is to encourage you to show up”.

He added, “If you do not do that and you say, you do not have anything, you have placed yourself in a state where anything the State finds in your name is confiscated”.
