Franklin Cudjoe, the President of IMANI Africa, has heaped praises on the former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The IMANI President asserted that Dr Bawumia is one of the most distinguished politicians of his generation.
According to Franklin Cudjoe, the former vice president needs to be more assertive and face the realities of Ghanaians.
In a post on social media X, Franklin Cudjoe wrote, “By the way, Dr. Bawumia remains one of the most distinguished politicians of our time. He listens to everyone, understands what needs to be done to move the country forward”.
He added, “He just needs to be more assertive, face our realities and own up to some that he was part of that didn’t help us, such as his controversial 2.6 million jobs claim, which the World Bank disputes with some evidence) and now chart his own path. Good luck, Alhaji. It is possible. Good man”.
Meanwhile, A new poll released by Global Info Analytics on August 21, 2025, shows the former Vice President and NPP presidential candidate for the 2024 Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is the leading candidate ahead of the party’s primaries in January 2026.
The Global Info Analytics shows Dr Mahamudu Bawumia running away with a commanding 52% lead, with his closest contender, Kennedy Agyapong, the former Assin Central MP, with 17%.
Dr Bryan Acheampong polled 3%, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the former Education Minister, polled 1%.
Kwabena Agyapong, former General Secretary, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo all polling less than 1%.
However, 10% of delegates remain undecided, with 9% declining to disclose their choice.
According to the Global Info Analytics, the poll surveyed 2,656 NPP delegates, with 2,560 completing all responses across 263 of the 276 constituencies.
Also, Also, it has been revealed that close to 490 youth organisers and deputy youth organisers with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have contributed to picking up nomination forms for former flagbearer and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to contest in 2028.
This is according to David Boakye, Bono East Regional Secretary of the NPP. Mr. Boakye made this disclosure to Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi FM.
Mr. Boakye said the youth organisers and their deputies across the country approached Samira Bawumia, wife of Dr. Bawumia, right before the recently held National Delegates Conference at the University of Ghana in Accra.
“490 out of the 546 youth organisers and their deputies in Ghana have collectively contributed money to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential candidacy for the upcoming election. They met Hajia Samira, Sammi Awuku, Dr. Gideon Boako, and Ekwow Vincent a day before the delegates conference with the proposal,” David Boakye said.
He added that the youth, together with their deputies, have already sent some selected representatives to meet Dr. Bawumia and assure him of their decision, adding that they will pick up the nomination forms for Dr. Bawumia come Wednesday, August 12, 2025.
In addition, in the NPP’s 2024 presidential primaries, Kennedy Agyapong finished second in the Super Delegates Conference with 14.30% of the vote, behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who secured 61.47% emerging the winner.
The NPP 2026 primaries are heating up with the main front-runners for the NPP’s flagbearer position, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Minister for Agriculture Bryan Acheampong, and former Minister for Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.
Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo have also declared their intention to contest.
