“Bryan Acheampong has to be arrested” – Peace Watch Ghana

News“Bryan Acheampong has to be arrested” - Peace Watch Ghana

Madam Nyonkopa Daniels, the Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana, has said the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, must be arrested and prosecuted.

According to the Peace Watch Ghana Executive Director, Bryan Acheampong must be disqualified from vying for the position of President of Ghana.

The Peace Watch director asserted that it is dangerous for delegates of the NPP to elect someone who influences delegates with money, which he has now turned around to describe as incompetent.

Madam Nyonkopa Daniels stated, “I don’t hate Bryan Acheampong. I am not a supporter of Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, or any other candidate. I am a Ghanaian and CEO of Peace Watch Ghana, and I am worried that someone who publicly admits to influencing voters is seeking to be elected as a candidate and later elected president.

“The NPP should be wise because Bryan Acheampong does not even deserve to be elected a leader of a political party,” she said in an interview.

“For someone who claims to have sponsored a candidate who he is today accusing of being incompetent, it shows he is not fit to lead his party and the country. If the NPP elects him as a candidate, doom will come upon the country.

“Bryan has to be arrested. Where did he get the money to pay to the delegates? He ought to be investigated because giving people money to influence their votes is a criminal offense.”

His comments come on the heels of Dr Bryan Aceampong’s shocking revelation that he personally financed the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to become the NPP’s flagbearer.

According to Bryan Acheampong, Dr Bawumia did not contribute a penny during the 2024 presidential primaries in the Eastern Region.

He further stated that he funded Bawumia’s 2024 elections more than he even funded former president Akufo-Addo in the past.

Speaking to some members of the NPP, Dr Bryan Acheampong stated, “Dr Bawumia’s primaries in 2023, he did not contribute a penny to the Eastern Region. I paid every single penny for him to become the flagbearer of this party. He didn’t pay a penny, and it is a fact.

In the 2024 elections, I funded Dr. Bawumia more than I even funded Akufo-Addo. I am happy that two-thirds of the people here are from the Eastern Region”, he boldly added.

Meanwhile, Dr Bryan Acheampong has said he has come under a barrage of attacks.

In a statement dated Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Dr Bryan Aceampong revealed he is focused despite attacks and a misleading video linking him to the Mamprusi-Kusasi conflict.

He urged supporters to avoid personal attacks, emphasising unity and ideas over division.

According to Bryan Aceampong, there has been misinformation and personal attacks against him.

Part of his statement read, “Yes, I have come under a barrage of attacks. Falsehoods have been spread about me.

“Fake materials have been shared to question my character. But through it all, I remain focused, not on retaliation, but on restoration,” Acheampong said.

“We are building something far greater than a campaign. We are building a movement to unite and rebuild our beloved New Patriotic Party,” he noted.

Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s statement concluded by saying, “Together, we unite. Together, we rebuild”.

Also, Dr Bryan Acheampong has said the statement he made, widely regarded as a tribal statement against Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, was factual.

According to Dr Bryan Acheampong, the statements were facts he was sharing with some NPP party members.

Dr Bryan Acheampng is quoted by GHONE TV to have said, “The so-called tribal statements I made were facts I was sharing with party people”.

Dr Bryan Acheampong, in a separate video revealed he personally financed the NPP’s campaign in the Eastern Region during the 2024 election season.

According to Bryan Acheampong, he funded the party’s campaign activities by giving each NPP polling station executive in November, numbering about 26,000, GHS 2 million each.

Dr Bryan Acheampong further revealed that he also financed 33 parliamentary candidates in the Eastern region with GH¢100,000 every month from May to October.

In a viral video sighted Dr Bryan Acheampong stated, “In 2020, we were in government, so nobody needed my money. But in 2024, the regional chairman and the regional secretary are here, in the Eastern Region, except for about six MPs who were financially independent. I gave each of the remaining parliamentary candidates GH¢100,000”.

“It was from May to October — May, June, July, August, September, October. In November, my regional chairman and regional secretary can bear witness, we have 26,000 polling station executives in the Eastern Region, and I gave each of them GH¢2,000,000 in November to work with at their polling stations,” he added.
