Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, has replied to Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM), the host of KSM Show, after he called him out over his comments on the upcoming by-election in Akwatia.
According to Ntim Fordjour, he can never call for bloodshed as he always preaches peace.
Appearing on the KSM Show aired on August 2, 2025, Ntim Fordjour clarified his remarks, “When I heard that you had made some comments, I said, ‘I’m sure for the benefit of you not given the full video, that is why you’d draw that conclusion because I know you mean no malice… You would know that I was preaching against bloodshed”.
“I said we don’t want bloodshed but we have to do what will prevent that bloodshed. If we leave things the way they’ve been happening from the past, we have had many elections that have been characterised by violence. For how long must that continue? How long must Ayawaso Wuogon continue?”
He added, “How long should Talensi continue, Techiman continue, and many other places and many instances when we cite these instances? We should not cite them to equalise as politicians, not at all. We should cite them to draw lessons from them, to learn from them, but put in action today that will prevent the next Ablekuma North incident from happening”.
Ablekuma North had only 19 polling stations, and so if the kind of violence we saw there was condoned, and we don’t take action (sic). It wouldn’t take a day or two to arrest those people and prosecute them to send a signal that if any politician comes to hire you for such a violent enterprise, you will be arrested and go to jail.
Ntm Fordjour asserted that he was clearly misquoted as some person twisted what he said.
“And so, everybody will stay home and allow elections to go on peacefully, so that’s the point I raised that let us leave this in the back; we don’t want bloodshed. We are sitting on a time bomb of political vigilantism, so they clearly misquoted me. They put a propaganda spin on it; some took the video, twisted it, but I can never call for bloodshed. I always preach peace.”
Rev Ntim Fordjour’s earlier remarks suggested, if John Mahama continue his inaction in bringing the perpetrators to book, there will be bloodshed in Akwatia and future elections.
Speaking in an interview, Ntim Fordjour stated, “It’s not a strong signal, but if the president wants to continue his inaction in bringing the perpetrators to book, arresting them and prosecuting them, there’s going to be bloodshed in Akwatia and future elections. We don’t want bloodshed in future elections. Democracy cannot be traded for violence.
We don’t want a time where you put ballot boxes at polling stations and nobody will come out to vote because they fear being killed by political vigilantes”.
He added, “That is what the NDC is doing. It’s a dangerous trend, a national security threat that must be rooted out, and the president must show commitment. So far, he has demonstrated he doesn’t care”
“The minister has given his word that those engaged in the acts are going to be prosecuted. We heard yesterday that two people have been arrested.
Two people? Out of how many? Over a hundred government-sponsored thugs were sent to exert mayhem, and you arrest two, and then we should clap for you? It’s shameful and disappointing”, he fumed.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has officially scheduled Tuesday, September 2, 2025, for the by-election in the Akwatia Constituency.
