“I will beat Asiedu Nketia hands down if NDC elects him as flagbearer” – Ken Agyapong

News“I will beat Asiedu Nketia hands down if NDC elects him as flagbearer” - Ken Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, a former Assin Central lawmaker and NPP presidential aspirant hopeful, has boldly declared he will beat the NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia if elected NDC flagbearer.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, he will beat Asiedu Nketia hands down, as he has something to show.

He boldly declared that he stands tall among all presidential candidate hopefuls on both the NDC and the NPP.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Pan African Television, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “Why not? It is very easy, I will beat him hands down, I have something to show for when it comes to industries, the problems, the challenges of this country, first thing is unemployment, and I have examples to give, that is what Ghanaians want to hear, not your political party.

This time, the politics is going to be about personalities, the individuals and their capabilities, their achievements, and I stand tall among all candidates, both NDC and NPP”.

Kennedy Agyapong, in the same interview, stated the NPP has a fighting chance in the 2028 elections if the party chooses him as the flagbearer.

According to him, he is the NPP’s best bet to win the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He boldly emphasised that he is going to beat the NDC hands down if voted as the NPP presidential candidate.

The former lawmaker added stated, “The party has a fighting chance, but it depends on the candidate they choose. If they choose Kennedy Agyapong, they have a fighting chance; I will beat NDC hands down”.

He further gave an insight into his plans for Ghana, “Can you imagine the tourism industry? What are we going to do? Right in the middle of the sea in Dubai, they’ve created an island”.

The NPP flagbearer hopeful added, “Ghana is the centre of the world, and we don’t have a hotel with the name Centre of the World to attract tourists. We are going to build a hotel in the sea. It is possible. I’ve seen it work elsewhere, and therefore it is going to work”.

Mr Agyapong also urged Ghanaians to give him eight years in power, and he will break Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s records.

He revealed that Dr Kwame Nkrumah is his role model, and he has seen what Ghana’s first president has achieved and wants to beat those records.

He stated, “You see, I have role models and these role models are pragmatists. When you look at the infrastructural framework of this country, nearly 60% of them were done by President Kwame Nkrumah in just 9 years of his rule.

That is from 1957 to 1966, and up to now, we have not been able to match what he did. I go around the country and I see the things he achieved, so he is my role model. If there’s a president whose record I want to beat, it’s Dr Kwame Nkrumah”.

“When you give me 8 years, I will beat his record,” the politician added.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong previously contested in the NPP’s 2024 presidential primaries.

Mr Agyapong finished second in the Super Delegates Conference with 14.30% of the vote, behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who secured 61.47% emerging the winner.

Despite his shortcomings, Kennedy Agyapong’s strong performance demonstrated considerable support within the party.

Kennedy Agyapong will have to tussle with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister for Agriculture Bryan Acheampong, former Minister for Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong others, to stand a chance of contesting in the 2028 elections on the ticket of the NPP.
