“We don’t know why we are” – Kayaye at NPP’s ‘Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna’ protest

News“We don’t know why we are” – Kayaye at NPP’s ‘Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna’ protest

A Kayaye at the NPP Youth Wing protest against alleged abuse of power and state-sponsored harassment has revealed they were misled.

According to the Kayaye, they were told they were going for a meeting.

Speaking to the media during the NPP protest, the Kayaye stated, “We don’t know why they are holding the demonstration. They told us we were going for a meeting.”

Also, another NPP poster shockingly claimed that Tramadol and weed help the youths work and warned the NDC that if care is not taken, they will start stealing.

Speaking during the NPP’s protest, the young man stated, “Tramadol and wèed are expensive now, and those are what help us to work. If the NDC is not careful, we will start steáling. They should reduce the price”.

The youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is on the streets today, Tuesday, September 23, to protest against the John Mahama-led government over what it described as selective justice, intimidation, and abuse of opposition members.

The NPP protest follows the arrest of NPP members, Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, and other NPP members.

According to the NPP, the arrest of several members and sympathisers has been politically influenced by investigations.

The NPP protesters will march to present a petition at the Police Headquarters, before proceeding to the Jubilee House to deliver a final petition to the Office of the President.

Salam Mustapha stated, “I can confirm that the leadership of the party will be present, and so will the Minority Leader and the entire Minority Caucus”.

The “Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna” demo, meaning “We do not fear oppression”.

Additionally, Salam Mustapha has called on Ghanaian youth to rise against what he describes as selective justice.

In related news, Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), commonly known as Nana B, has quizzed why there are different laws for NPP and different laws for NDC.

Nana B, during the NPP “Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna” protest in Accra, declared the NPP will not be intimidated by what it describes as deliberate attempts by State institutions.

The NPP man cited the arrest of Abronye DC, Sir Obama and Fante Comedy.

He noted that state institutions have not similarly treated NDC members the way they treat NPP members.

Speaking during the “Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna” protest, Nana B stated, “Why do we have different laws for NPP and different laws for NDC? That is what we are protesting against: the weaponisation of State institutions against the opposition. This is deliberate, a clear orchestration against the NPP. We will not be intimidated”.

“You arrest somebody and then impose onerous bail conditions. That is most unfortunate. We are telling the President, who claims to be an embodiment of democracy, to ensure these institutions stop the harassment. We are not going to sit down for our rights to be trampled upon,” he added.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the video stated, “Saddest thing is after their ‘meeting’, they won’t get anything from their leaders”.

Another X user stated, “Ama Ghana herrr…It’s sad that some of our youth still think these political parties actually care about the country’s development. We, the youths are not angry enough. I don’t blame some of us. I blame the high illiteracy rate in the country”.

One more netizen wrote, “I said this crowd we see they bus them from somewhere, which they don’t know anything about this demonstration. This country, since our second independence, we have been enjoying peace, so what is by force demonstration?”.

Additionally, a netizen added, “This is why politicians don’t want to develop the country. They try to keep a chip for times like this.  These girls are supposed to be in elite schools chasing bold dreams”.
