Alan Kyerematen doesn’t need to be engaged to return to NPP – Miracles Aboagye

NewsAlan Kyerematen doesn't need to be engaged to return to NPP - Miracles Aboagye

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the 2024 Communications Director of Dr Bawumia’s Campaign, has said Alan Kyerematen doesn’t need to be engaged to return to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Miracles Aboagye asserted that Alan Kyerematen left the NPP of his own volition.

Speaking in an interview with Starr FM, Miracles Aboagye stated, “Nobody convinced Alan Kyerematen to leave NPP. He doesn’t need to be engaged to return to the party”.

Miracles Aboagye, in the same interview, further clarified that Hopeson Adorye and other persons who left the party of their own accord must apply to become members again and added that not all who apply will be received back into the NPP.

According to Miracles Aboagye,  Hopeson Adorye, and other NPP members who left the party to join the Movement for Change are not part of the NPP’s amnesty.

He said, “Nobody is asking Hopeson Adorye to come back to the NPP. He is not part of the NPP; he is not part of those given the amnesty… In fact, the NPP does not expect Hopeson Adorye to come back.

“In a group we would want people who will bring positive energy to return. If you have an organisation like Starr FM and one of your staff members who leaves keeps bad-mouthing you, would you want such a staff member back? You would want a team that is pursuing a common agenda. I don’t think there is anybody in the NPP that would say that we want Hopeson back.

He added, “No politician would want negative energy. Do you know what one negative person can do? One negative energy can disrupt thousands of your people”.

“Let me put it on record, they are not part of the amnesty; they have to apply. So, they should even pray that when they apply and the application is vetted, they will be accepted. Because your acceptance will be based on the contribution you are bringing on board,” he said.

However, Hopeson Adorye, the director of Special Duties of the Movement of Change, has boldly stated Alan Kyerematen will never go back to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

His remarks follow the NPP’s granting all suspended party members general amnesty.

According to the NPP, the move is aimed at promoting unity and reconciliation.

The amnesty has been granted to all members suspended or who have pending disciplinary cases.

On August 16, 2025, in a statement signed by Mr. Danquah Smith Buttey, the Acting National Chairman read, “I bring you warm greetings from the national secretariat of the party.

I write to inform you that the National Council, at its Emergency Meeting held on Friday, July 25, 2025, resolved in the interest of unity and reconciliation to grant a General Amnesty to all Party members who have been suspended or whose disciplinary cases are currently pending before the appropriate adjudicatory bodies.

We hereby serve notice that this directive lifts all such suspensions and waives any ongoing proceedings against affected members”, the statement noted.

The NPP’s acting chairman’s statement continued, “Members who have forfeited their membership are required to submit a formal application to he national secretariat for reinstatement. Upon reinstatement, you shall remain ineligible to contest any internal party election until a mandatory two-year period has elapsed.

This measure reflects the Party’s unwavering commitment to fostering internal cohesion, strengthening solidarity, and preparing collectively for the political tasks ahead”.

The statement further added, “In view of this resolution, Party leadership at all levels is hereby strictly advised to refrain from any arbitrary suspension of members. All disciplinary matter must be handled solely in accordance with the procedures, principles, and due process provisions expressly enshrined in the Party’s constitution. The National Secretariat requests your full compliance with this directive.

We count on your continued cooperation”, the NPP statement concluded.
