Mussa Dankwah, in a post on X on Friday, August 29, wrote, “ NDC’s Baidoo overtakes NPP’s Asumadu 3 days before the crucial polls for the main opposition in Akwatia. Baidoo’s lead is propelled by voters who want development and SHS, and tertiary voters who preferred Baidoo my larger margin.
Using the committed model, which is likely to be minimum vote for Baidoo, the NDC candidates leads with 53% and Solomon K Asumadu of the NPP 47%”.
Also, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State for Government Communications, has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is confident of victory in the upcoming September 2 poll at Akwatia.
He revealed the party is determined to honour the late Defence Minister and NDC Elections Director, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.
Felix Kwakye added that Dr Omane Boamah, before his passing, started laying down work for the NDC to win the Akwatia seat.
Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV, Felix Kwakye Ofosu stated, “We all miss Dr Omane Boamah. We all know that before he passed on, rather unceremoniously, so tragically, he had started laying down blockworks for a resounding victory in Akwatia.
“So, in his memory, we will carry out the plan that he laid out, and we will build on it and add more impetus to it and ensure that we fine-tune it to deliver victory for us in Akwatia”.
He added, “We will win the Akwatia seat so that the people of the constituency will enjoy all the benefits others properly represented in parliament are enjoying. So, we are confident of victory”.
Also, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has assured the Oseawuohene that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not disappoint them if they vote for them to win the Akwatia by-election.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah led a high-powered delegation from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to storm the Akwatia ahead of the by-election.
The NDC bigwigs, led by Julius Debrah, visited the Oseawuo Division of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional State in the Eastern Region.
Also, the NDC Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, stormed Akwatia to campaign for the NDC candidate.
Meanwhile, Kwame Owiredu, the NPP spokesperson for the party’s campaign team in the constituency, has expressed confidence in retaining the Akwatia parliamentary seat.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Akwatia on Thursday, August 28, Owiredu stated, ““It is vibrating for the NPP. The NPP is poised to retain the Akwatia seat. Even though we are mourning our late MP Hon Ernest Kumi, we are still poised and determined to keep the seat and the grounds bear witness to this assertion”.
“Almost everybody is saying we are retaining the seat in Akwatia, and it is very important because this particular vote is a vote to vindicate and honour the name of Ernest Yaw Kumi,” he stated.
The NPP is seeking to retain the seat following the demise of their Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi, leaving the seat vacant.
However, the NDC, on the other hand, is mounting a challenge with a better representation for Akwatia.
